GUM

This is so clever! It may be hard to tell in the photograph I took, but all around the center text, it has chewed up gum, with an arrow below it pointing to a trash can! I love this design. The pionk color represents bubble gun and the typography goes along perfect with the feel that this poster is trying to put out. This would have caught my eye if I were to see it on the side of the road.

Found this in Print Magazine's August Issue 2010.

Changing My Mind

This is a really cool book cover! It has the art nouveau look to it and is very simple and elegant. Art nouveau is one of my favorite times of graphic design. I think that some of my designs are very much influenced by art nouveau. Back to the cover though, the colors go very well together and overall I think that this would be a book that I would pick up and read the synopsis.

Took this photo from Print Magazine, December 2010 issue.

King Dairy

This is a very cool design. The use of the milk jug and the typography is very upbeat and fun yet professional. This design really caught my eye. Its simple and gets straight to the point. Typography in graphic design has to be one of my favorite aspects and this design used typography very well.

This was from December 2010's Print Magazine.

Early Bird

This is the design for the Early Bird granola packaging. It really makes use of the whole label and has no white space. I think its a very clean yet eye catching design. I'm big on labels, if I see one that is very well designed then I pick it up and look at it, then I decide if I'd like to try that food or buy that shirt. I would probably buy this granola if I saw it in the store... yes I like to judge books by their cover (:

New York Public Library's Make Change Campaign

This is from the New York Public Library's make change campaign. It was designed by Matthew Poor. I think its western inspired yet has a modern feel to it. I think its brilliant. Its eye catching and I think they pulled alot of "change" in from it.

Found this from Print Magazine's October 2010 issue.

2012 Olympic Logo

This is the design for the 2012 Olympics! So retro and ballsy! They picked bright and very bold colors for the logo. Its simple and clean. I will be curious to see what people say about it if they keep the logo for 2012!

Found this in Print magazine, August 2010.

Lost

These are different types of designs for a campaign called Lost. I think that the designs are clever and eye catching. They've come up with several different ways to these posters different but all have the same meaning. It's fun to look at a design and piece apart the meaning.

Ditto Sales Card

This is a business card for Ditto Sales Inc. It has a very nice color pallet and looks like an old movie stub. I think its a great idea. If I saw a business card that looked like this I would for sure take one. It even has a number stamped on the bottom. Props to whoever thought of this business card design!

Cool Cards

This is a very unique business card. It has a cut shape and when you open it, it has an even odder shape to it. Also, the info is on the inside flap instead of being on the back of the card. That is very inventive as well. The colors go well with what I believe would be a place to eat. The colors work great together and it has a bouncy feel to it.

Champaign Park Districts 100 year Anniversary

This is the Champaign Park Districts 100 year anniversary Spring 2011 Funformation catalog. I like the 100 year logo they designed. It's simple yet fun and quirky at the same time. Great job Champaign Park District.

McDonalds Monopoly Game Board

This is McDonald's new Monopoly game board. I've got a couple of these at home now. I was admiring how well designed they are. The game board of course is the same as the actual Monopoly game but they've added in the things you can win by collecting the game pieces. And they've also included little slots for each color card you can get. Clever huh? I thought so. The chances of winning are just so exciting... I believe McDonalds will be in my budget for the next month so I can try and win something!

Hookah and Shisha Sticker Contest

This is the winner of the recent Hookah and Shisha Sticker contest. This was the description of the contest, "We’re looking for a promotional sticker that we can include with every order we send out. Want to design it? If you’ve got mad skills, send us your designs and we’ll post the best ones for all to vote on. The top-voted entry will be printed and distributed around the world!" Now doesn't that sound pretty awesome! Well for me it does. I'm a hookah fan so when I came across this website, I started exploring the website. Unfortunately I was too late and missed out on entering the contest, but I've been keeping tabs on it ever since I saw the contest. This ended up being the winner! I think its great. Simple and to the point! Has humor in it as well. Great graphic design!

"Bleeding" Billboard

This billboard really caught my eye. When it rains, the billboard "bleeds". I think that this billboard probably really got into peoples heads and made them think about driving safe. I didn't even know that billboards could do that! Someone thought out of the box on this one, kudos.

Jasmine Plantation Brochure

This brochure is very well put together. I found it online at the Jasmine Plantation website (listed below). I think the design is very effective and very eye catching. If I were to see it out of the corner of my eye, I would most likely go pick it up and look at it. It has a lot of pictures and text but its not cluttered. It just has the main facts and what's needed to get the description of the plantation across.

What is graphic design?

These two posters I chose to share with you are from a contest called "What is Graphic Design Poster Competition". There were many great ones, but these two were my favorites. They are up with the times that graphic design is in now and they are very eye catching. They are the kind of posters that you just have to keep looking at to see all the details. Those are my favorite kind! I found these posters online from a fellow blog.
